Dr. Isaac Morrison

Dr. Isaac Morrison is a strong advocate for public-private partnership and health systems strengthening; a passion he has pursued over the past several years. Since 1997, he has led and helped set up several private healthcare facilities as a general practitioner and in partnership with others in the private sector. He has served in the Society of Private Medical and Dental Practitioners, Ghana (SPMDP) from 2007 to the present as vice chairman, regional chairman, national vice president and national president. He was elected national chairman of Medicines Transparency Alliance, Ghana (MeTA Ghana) in 2011 as part of a 7-country DFID/WHO funded multistakeholder alliance started in 2008 to improve access and affordability of medicines in lower to middle income countries and promote transparency and accountability within the medicines supply chain. Dr. Morrison is a contributing author to three toolkits produced by the Joint Learning Network (JLN). He has also contributed to the development of numerous guidelines and toolkits on healthcare systems and management. He is a member of the team that prepared draft legislative instruments for the HeFRA and NHIA Acts. He currently serves on the boards of National Health Insurance, AIMS Hospital and Fidelity Healthcare (in Liberia) among others. He serves on a number of technical working groups for the ministry of health. He is a member of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) serving on a number of committees. He is a former CEO of erstwhile State Fishing Corporation, a state-owned enterprise, and a former Country Director for European Management and Development Assistance (EMDA). Dr. Morrison holds an MD (Hons) from Lvov State Medical Institute, an MBA (Finance) from Coventry University, UK, an MPH from University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws LLB(Hons) from GIMPA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Systems Management from GIMI, Israel.
