Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye (MD, MPH) is the Director General of the Ghana Health Service. Until his appointment as Director General, Dr. Kuma-Aboagye served as the Director of the Family Health Division of the Ghana Health Service with responsibility for the Departments of Reproductive and Child Health, Nutrition as well as the Health Promotion Department. Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye is a Senior Public Health Specialist who has steadily built up his career with over 25 years’ progressive experience as a clinician and Public Health Physician. He has managed several flagship programs in Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, Nutrition and Family Planning in Ghana. Key amongst these are the MDG’s accelerated Fund (MAF) Program, Ghana Limited Obstetric Ultrasonography Program for Primary Health Care, the Girls’ Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation and the Medical Screening for Schools Program. He is a maternal health advocate and has worked relentlessly to reduce maternal deaths and improve survival and wellbeing of women and children in Ghana.
